The ever-anticipated Met Gala passed us by quickly earlier this month, with glamorous celebrities such as Zendaya, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez stealing the show.
But even their glamour on the red carpet wasn’t enough to overshadow this month’s main event: the simply adorable Pet Gala 2024.
Monday night’s extravaganza – for which a ticket costs $300 – served as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, and had all the stunning designer fits and lavish hair dos of the Met (though its stars were undoubtedly more natural in front of a camera).
In fact, each dog on the carpet donned couture similar to what celebrities wore at the Met Gala just two weeks ago.
Most of the furry fashionistas were pint-sized – even the role of Chris Hemsworth was played by a shih tzu – though there was a larger Leonberger in the mix.
Some of the Met Gala’s most talked about stars were represented: including Daffodil the Pomeranian as Jennifer Lopez, Kimba the chihuahua as Zendaya, Miley-Jo the chorkie as Cardi B and Bastian the terrier as Colman Domingo.
Designer Anthony Rubio threw the event at New York’s American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog.
“I want people to understand that we’re not making fun of the Met Gala. We’re not mimicking the Met Gala,” Mr Rubio said.
“We’re elevating and appraising and appreciating the wonderful designs that were presented at the Met Gala by the most talented designers of the world.”
